New Version of METS Schema Released (December 21, 2001)
A revised version of the METS XML schema is now available at the
official METS web site at http://lcnetdev.github.io/standards/mets/.
Please note that this revision requires the use of an additional
XML schema document defining XLink attributes used in the METS
schema. The XLink schema is available at http://lcnetdev.github.io/standards/mets/xlink.xsd
This revision makes a number of changes and enhancements to the
METS schema, including:
- Change of sequence operator for StructMap so that only 1 root
div element is permitted;
- Addition of new roles to agent element's role attribute and
support for extensible 'other' role;
- Additon of support for extensible 'other' type attribute on
agent element;
- Revision of documentation;
- Relocation of CHECKSUM attribute from FContent to File element;
- Change of the file element's CREATED attribute and fileGroup's
VERSDATE attribute to a type of xsd:dateTime;
- Change of attribute name DMD for div element to DMDID for consistency's
sake.
- Additon of new behaviorSec for support of referencing executable
code from METS object
Input from the library community regarding the design of the METS
schema is encouraged. Comments regarding METS' design should be
