Travel Information

Welcome to METS Opening Day West. In preparation for your visit to Edmonton on October 15th we are providing you with the following information.

The conference will be held at the Telus Centre (href="http://www.teluscentre.com/). Maps of the Centre can be found at the following web sites: http://129.128.176.143/location.shtml and http://www.campusmap.ualberta.ca/index.cfm.

Air Travel

The Edmonton International Airport is located approximately 40 minutes south of Edmonton. Travelers can get to the city by taxi or by the Sky Shuttle service.

Hotel Information

The hotel for the adjoining Access 2005 conference is the Crowne Plaza Chateau Lacombe Edmonton. Details for reservations at this hotel can be found at: http://access2005.library.ualberta.ca/accommodation.php.

Travel from downtown to the Telus Centre

The Telus Centre is located on the University of Alberta Campus, a few minutes south of downtown. The campus is easily accessible via taxi or the Light Rail Transit system. Most downtown hotels are located near the Central Station, which is four stops north of the University Station. On Saturdays the trains run every 10-15 minutes. A map of the LRT route is at:

The fare is $2.00.

Parking

Underground parking is available at the Telus Centre. The rate on Saturdays for a full day is $3.75.
